I love change. I love the change of the seasons. I love seeing the changes in my children as they continue to grow into young adults. I welcome the changes in my relationship with my life partner as we grow together in our love for one another. Change is necessary. I actually get worried when things don’t change. More worried when people don’t change…but that’s better left for another post. My point is that nothing stays the same forever. I don’t think it’s meant to. We are constantly changing and adapting to the changes in our surroundings as the world continues to evolve. This change then, of course, applies to all aspects of life. Personal and professional. When I graduated from my first 250 hour yoga teacher training at Downward Dog Yoga Centre in 2013, I was a scared, nervous and insecure yoga instructor. I didn’t think I had it in me to teach yoga. Who was I kidding? I didn’t think I was worthy of walking into a room full of people and leading them through a spiritual practice. What if I messed up? What if they didn’t like me? What if I taught them something wrong? What if? What if? What if?

It’s almost 2018. I have taught over 2,000 group yoga classes to groups as small as 2 and as large as 100. I have taught children, seniors, athletes, housewives, executives and everyone else in between. Do I still get nervous? Hell YES! Do I still question my abilities? Of course I do. But what I do not question any longer is my worth. I finally know my worth and I am worthy of teaching yoga. I put my heart and soul into my classes and my students feel my passion. They feed off my energy. It’s a good energy. When you do what you love you don’t have to fake it. You don’t have to just show up. There’s no pretending. I am real. What I teach is what I believe in with everything inside of me. My students know this about me. Anyone who has walked into my yoga class can feel this.

Have I arrived? No. Do we ever fully arrive in our yoga journey? I think not. It’s a life long journey and I am nowhere near the end of this path. But I am at a cross road and I have had to make some very difficult decisions. It is time for me to hang up my mat at the very first yoga studio that opened their doors to me as a teacher. I have been teaching at Be Yoga Studio since the beginning of 2014. Almost 4 years. I have grown so much since my first class there where I taught a hot vinyasa class to 3 people and then spent the next half hour in the washroom trying to calm my nerves down before getting into the car to drive home and replay every single pose of the class in my head and wondering what I could have done differently. I have met so many wonderful people at this studio and made some new friends that I know will last long after my last class. That’s the great thing about this journey…we cross paths with so many people at different times in our lives for very different reasons. I am grateful to Be and to each and every student there. I will miss you but I look forward to seeing you again someday soon.

For those of you wanting to take my classes before I go, here is the remainder of my schedule at Be:

Thursday October 19:
6:30 am Hot Vinyasa
9:45 am Hot Core
12:00 pm Hot Detox

Tuesday October 24:
6:30 am Hot Vinyasa
9:45 am Hot Vinyasa
12:00 pm Hot Detox

Thursday October 26:
6:30 am Hot Vinyasa
9:45 am Hot Core
12:00 pm Hot Detox

I will be posting my November schedule within the next week or so once I have sorted out details.
