Hi there,
I know it’s been a VERY long time since I last posted. I took the summer off from my blog to focus on teaching and reading and yes, enjoying the beautiful sunshine we were getting here in Oakville all summer long. I also spent 3 weeks of August in the beautiful south of Italy soaking up some Mediterranean sand, sun and delicious meals. I ate a lot of foods I don’t eat here including pizza, pasta, bread and ice cream and I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE MINUTE!!! No guilt. No shame. Food just tastes better down there. Not as much added artificial stuff that is filled with the food we eat here in North America. Now it’s back to reality, back to the grind, and back to mindful and healthy eating. Many of us have kids that are back to school and are back to making lunches every day. Some of us also need to pack lunches (and/or snacks) for ourselves going to work or being on the road. I came across this timely article that lists 10 snacks you can buy at the supermarket that have no added sugar. For those of you who already pay attention to what you pick off the shelves, this is no easy feat!!
These packaged snacks include everything from beets, to popcorn to dried bison (personally not a meat eater but to each his own). My personal favourites are the Skinny Pop Popcorn (#4) and the Peeled Snacks Peas Please (#6). Costco also sells a brand of snack peas called Sneapea Crisps and you can get them in snack size packages which is great!! I should warn you though that these are highly addictive :)! I am also happy to report that I have seen Justin’s Almond Butter (#10) being served at Starbucks in their protein boxed snacks! Finally…something healthy I can report for Starbucks. Good for you guys!
For a complete list of the 10 sugarless snacks you can buy at the supermarket, as reported by SELF magazine, read here.
I promise to get back to my blog and provide you with more recipes, tips and stories! Stay tuned…
Until next time,
Have a fit and fabulous day!
